So we are now ready for the next destination, we pack up and head to a free camping spot we discovered in Aire River, and are so glad we did! Driving down a never ending bumpy road, we were a bit worried if it would be worth the journey in but i must say it was well worth it! Only a short walk to the Ocean and the river, backed on to each other with only one or two people around. It was spectacular! It was also a bonus to have a camp fire to keep ourselves warm too!
Cam had a good time working in his new fishing rod, dispite loosing his new lure wich he ironically called lucky. Thankfully he did catch 5 fish so he was still happy. Wilst i had some lovely walks on the beach and lazed around in the sand and read a book. After 3 nights we were keen to get a shower and have some electricity, especially after a bit of rain!
On our way to find another caravan site we had to stop at the Twelve Apostles. There are some places in the world you go that make you feel so small, this is definately one of those places! We climbed down the Gibson steps to walk along these huge formations which were formed by a man named Gibson who was out walking one day and came a across a shipwreck with over a hundred people stranded at the bottom of the cliff. So he carved steps into the cliff and saved them all! What a man! We also stopped in at the Cape Otway lighthouse which is pretty significant as it was one of the first places on the mainland to have contact with Tasmania through teleghraph. We have come a long way from dots on paper to iphones! Im still not sure we"re really that much better off.
Off to discover Port Fairy!
