News flash - Last night we went out to eat meat...I mean sukiyaki where we cook meat and veggies at our table. We are still catching onto shoes - no shoes. I believe the rule is no shoes on hardwood or tatami - simple rule but easy to slip on (no pun).
Communication challenges exist - we rely on pointing and nodding and eating what we get (re daikon bowl in day 2 Tokyo). At dinner, our server started by cracking a raw egg in each of our bowls. When we asked about cooking it...that was met with a stern negative. We were to mix raw egg with whatever items we got.
Jen, Shauna and I tried, but Wendy said no way... She waited til our host left and plopped the egg back in the pan, cooked it up, and was so pleased she did it again.
But we got caught and scolded with a look...very effective. With that over, we all did a bit if egg cooking... It was quite yummy.
For dessert, we had two fresh strawberries and oh my gosh, they tasted so good! I can't believe I may be missing fruits...
We are heading down for our Japanese breakfast including fish I'm certain. Will report back later!
