It took us a while to get out of Amarillo this morning. Our first detour was a HUGE cowboy outfitting warehouse. Everyone in the store had on cowboy hats and boots. Even the girls! One thing I learned in Texas is that cowboy hats are serious business. You only wear straw in the summer months and felt in the winter. I guess it's like the 'no white after labor day' rule for country bumpkins! Just a few miles up the road from the warehouse was a place called Cadillac Ranch. A group of artists buried a row of Cadillac's in a field sticking straight out of the ground. People come from all over to spray paint on the cars. So of course Britt and I tagged the crap out of them. Finally we got on the rode and starting heading out of Texas and into New Mexico. The landscape in NM was like nothing I've ever seen before. It was absolutely beautiful. It seems so clear and clean and untouched. There were very few houses along the way and the ones that we did see were tiny trailers just plopped in the middle of nowhere. But at least that nowhere had an amazing view. We stopped in Albequrque, NM for lunch and had the worst pizza ever. We were so hungry that we just stopped at the first decent place we saw. I guess people in the Midwest don't know how to do pizza. We definitely should've gone to a Mexican place but hunger prevailed. After our pizza we rolled over the border of NM into Arizona. It was dark when we made it to the border so we haven't had a chance to soak up the landscape here. But there will be plenty of time for that tomorrow…cuz we're spending the day at the Grand Canyon!
