Skydive day!!Arrrggghhh!Luckily I slept quite well.Weather was great, finally!!Lucky for me I was set to have some good views.I had a lonely walk to my pick up destination.Oh, what was I getting myself into. There was me and one other girl.I was a model of calm but of course I was afraid for my life.I think I just couldn't connect with what I was about to do and I didn't know how to act.So we got there, had to sin our lives away etc, blah blah!Sure what is my life when I can have an adrenaline rush!I decided to do the highest, I always was anyway and I decided to get the DVD even though I said beforehand I wouldn't and it was too expensive.Ahhh sure I'm on holidays. You should see the state of me in it.
Well, we got our training, and off we went with our dudes (mine was called Dawsey, just so long as he's not Dooozey!) in our little plane.Up, up, up.We were at 7000 ft, only half way.Fluck, I'm going even higher!!!Oh Fluck! The view was just fab, weather great.Above the clouds and ready to end my life!I really just wanted to get it done. The waiting is the worst. We got strapped up and more talking to about what was gonna happen, do you think I was listening?Ha.I was next to the door so when it was time to open I think then I realised what I was about to do.SCARY s***!!!There was no messing about.Get the feet out, get the body out, my hand would not leave go of the plane, it had to be surgically removed!!And gone, forced out.No choice in the matter!!OMG.It took a few seconds for me to find my voice.I was freefalling.Wind in my face, the ground so far away.Me muscles!!!were blowing upwards, that kinda hurts actually!People said you don't really remember the freefall part, but I did.I don't really remember it now, but I did remember it after, took a lot of what I was seeing in, what I was feeling. It was out of this world. My freefall was about a minute then the chute went up.That was another scary moment. Then guiding it down.I helped!Haha, I'm an expert now, I have a cert and all!We did some side to side on the way down, I think that is how they guide it down.My landing was very good.I had to lift my legs, it was kinda hard to keep them up cos your strapped to this dude and the harness doesn't allow for breathing, never mind movelment but he did the work and a good job.I heard from one guy, he landed on his arse so I was happy Dawsey ws not dozey. The whole thing was just surreal.Afterwards, I pannicked more.We had to get on a bus to get to Townsville cos were were catching our flight to Sydney the next day and it was really only then I realised what I had done.I pannicked more that day and night that I had done before I actually jumped.I had done it so I knew what happens so I was getting visions and having the sweats. It's very strange. But I would do it again!!Brilliant.I have wanted to do a drop for years and now I've done it!I wish now, though, that I had done it in NZ.I thought that I would be out over the Whitsunday Islands and that I might even see Whitehaven Beach in all it's glory.I was dreaming!I was really just over the coast of Airlie Beach. The views were spectacular and I couldn't have gotten a better day for it but I just think NZ has more to offer in terms of views and I think the Kiwi's are prob….. more better. That's all I can describe it as, more better!!!But…sure that's just another excuse for me to go back..as if I need one!!
