We caught our flight to Sydney and made our way to Coogee where we were met by Ellen and Richie. They kindly offered us their spare bedroom, though by the time we got there it wasn't really spare anymore. We kicked poor Maura out of her bed.It was great not to be in a hostel, especially as the city ones are never the best. The guys had a lovely apartment and we are so appreciative of the kind offer! We headed to Coogee Beach for the rest of the afternoon.Ahhh lovely sunshine!Let the tanning begin!
Paddy's Day was see Sydney day.We went to the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, that food place…can't remember what it's called, Darling Harbour.Lovely!Fabulous weather, lovely walk around the city.We took a ride on the train thingy also.Sorry I can't remember the name of that either…the monorail that was it.We didn't really partake in the festivities. We had wine in a box to be consumed back at Ellen's!!!The luxuries of a backpacker!
Next day started with a gruelling walk along the Sydney Coastline, the Coogee to Bondi walk.Ok, it wasn't that gruelling but it took ages :-0 huuuuh.I know, I'm such a moaner! It involved walking through a huge cemetery aswell, which was strange and interesting. It kinda just comes outta nowhere, this cemetery. Nice view of the ocean, though not sure how appreciated the view is!!
So we had our day at Bondi.I'm loving these days at the beach. We haven't had that much of it on the trip. The waves are pretty big there.I had a paddle but the current is too strong for me.I'm just not used to it.I like swimming but I find the drag a bit scary so I play chicken.I'll jump out of a plane but I won't go for a swim in rough waters!Karen wouldn't go in cos of the recent shark attacks!!!I guess that's understandable! That night we met Karen's friends, Penny & Veronica, 2 sisters.Went for dinner and drinks in Coogee.Penny is an A&E nurse and was involved in treating one of the dudes that had been recently attacked by a shark. It was cool hearing a first hand account of the victim's injuries.Scary stuff.
Next day was a tough day.Ohh, it's so hard being on holiday.A day at the beach, again.Life is tough! We just spent the day on Coogee Beach. We were starting to look proper tanned now, finally! In the evening we checked out Bondi Junction shopping mall.Place is huge but I wasn't really loving much of the shops.Couldn't purchase anyway, so it's just as well!
Last day in OZ was spent yet again at the beach. We were starting to get bored of the beach now but we were looking fab with our tans.Oh we love ourselves! We had a BBQ with Ellen & Rich down at the beach that eve.It was lovely. You couldn't do that in Ireland…although you could right now, the weather is lovely today!Bout time!So that was the end of our OZ tour.Away 2 months already.Couldn't believe it!
