hey guys
I'm alive...the plane ride was amazing, the adrenaline was really pumping! We weaved in between moutnian side, that you coudl almost touch! (Very Indiana Jones temp Doom). Saw Everest for first time today, far off at the end of a valley.
Pete just looked at the airport, those mountains are very close for planes to land would need good weather to land, I know you must be disapointed not flying out today,as you told me on the phone you might try going on Kayaking course. That could be a challenge there might be strong curents under the water,I do remember its a 1 seat canue are they safe, but knowing your adventure spirit your going to try. I do hope you can fly out tomorrow because you really want to go to Everest. and not the alternitive. Safe journey take extra care on your travels. Lots Love Mum xxx
Meee Again
Didn't fly out again...hopin 3rd time lucky tomorrow!!!
We actually got to the plane this time and was just about to climb the little steps (have pics of plane and everything!) when Captain said Lukla airport had just been closded!!!
We can't go all the way to base cmap now cos we've lost 2 days already (you don't actually see Everest from there anyhow, its just a starting point for expeditions up there). The actual panaorama is on moutnain calla Kalla Pathar and we get there.
If we don't go tomorrow I'm gonna sign up for a Kayaking course (4 days in Pokhara (+ camping) and tag a week onto my teaching)
Pete
Meeeee
Hey guys
I'm still gonna go...but thank you for all your concerns. It means a lot.
You only get one life and I really wanna see Everest in that lifetime...its the best time of year to do it for weather conditions etc...
I made it over one of the most dangerous roads in the world in one piece (something I omitted to tell you :P) so I'll be fine.
Glad to hear you are safe... its a scary thought to think you should have been on the same plane. do you realise this is the second near miss you've had? first was the jeep and now this.man you are brave!. feel sorry for the germans relatives and friends who will get the bad news.
be careful and stay safe :)
Mum

Paul
mum just emailed me about the light plane crash! bloody hell that was a close call - and sad to hear about those Germans
take it as a lesson learnt and think twice about the more risky parts of the trip - seriously - it's one thing to have some great experiences, it's another to cut your life short by 40 years! - there's a reason not so many people visit Everest - and the ones that do take a lot of preparation into account first, I'd think twice about going there unless you're prepared to do weather checks, plane checks etc - which is what you'll need to do if you're putting your life into the hands of a pilot of a light plane at those heights, you're skating on the thinnest part of the ice with this part of the trip
take it easy - don't cut short the trip, you'll only regret it, but weight up the risks before you take a step in any direction from now on
stay safe!
Mum
