And he spoke to me.
How's that?
Is that the icing on the cake.... Or what?
Ok... Wifi is playing up at The Arden.....(arhhhh!)
So this will probably be posted when I get back to Balham.
Arrived Stratford on Avon at 11.15am.
Walked down the lovely mall towing all my worldly goods behind me....(small suitcase)
Shopped.
Looked around....
Went to The Arden and left my case, while I went across to the RSC....
And shopped.
Went up in The Tower.
Magnificent 360 degree view!
The trees are just turning and the view out over the Avon River was stunning.
Had a lovely time with the young guide up there.
She knew everything there was to know about Shakespeare and the town.
And we laughed ourselves silly.
Then she told me about free wifi in the RSC cafe....
So after The Tower Tour...I shot in there.
Couldn't get it to work.
So off shopping again.
Bought a stuffed toy puppy.
( yes, I know.
And I know the reason I bought him.
But, c'mon...I lasted 7 weeks and 6 days or something
That's pretty good.)
So Shakespeare and I walked around and did more shopping.
Found an antique arcade.
Hate the fact that I am restricted by a suitcase.
Had fun though.
And the lady in the antique jewellery shop didn't even blink when we walked in.
Then back for the most luxurious bath of all time.
Beautiful bathroom.
Oh....forgot to tell you.
The room is AMAZING.
Huge bay window overlooking the Theatre and the Stage Door.
And wonderful view of the park alongside the river.
Beautiful room.
It has a name.
'Redwood'
Anyway, wonderful bath.
Dressed for the Theatre.
(I don't say that often)
Lovely meal in the dining room.
Then headed across the road at 7pm.
I met a man as we were going to our seats, John.
He is 86.
He couldn't read his seat number so I helped him.
Turned out he was sitting next to me.
H69... John
H70.... Me.
5 rows from the stage and elevated so perfect view.
John has been coming to Stratford on Avon since 1952.
He has seen Sir Lawrence Olivier
Vivienne Leigh
Sir Alex Guinness.
We had the best time.
On the other side of me was a family, 2 young children about 10 and 12.
They were amazing...their first play.
I was chatting to lots of people.
Tested my phone 40 times.
Terrified that it would ring mid play!
It didn't.
Finally, the young father next to me told me that it was on 'silent' and I really could just 'put it away'
(OCD)
The play.
It was great.
Actually, it was brilliant.
And, once I got used to David Tennant with hair almost to his waist... and wearing a dress...
...... he was great too.
He was dressed as a king....in long flowing ...dresses really.
They weren't robes.
He was fantastic.
And the expressions he got on his face.
The stage was a 'thrust' stage.... Which means the stage comes out into the audience.
And there was a runway right near us that the actors used all the time.
I was so close!
All of the actors were amazing.
I absolutely loved it.
I was really frightened that I wouldn't understand it.... but that was no problem at all.
And it was funny and sad.
It was great.
Then it was over.
And I went outside...and it was raining.
Quite heavily.
But I thought I'd walk to the Stage Door and have a look.
I was one off the railing.
There were about 50 people there.
David came out after about 10 minutes....
Started signing things at the other end....
And when he made his way down to me I just said 'Australia, David'
And he looked up and said 'Wow. That's a long way to come'
And then he signed my program.
That's it.
Not a lot, I'll admit.
But...
I spoke to David Tennant.
And he spoke to me.
So now I am in the bar, sipping on Jack Daniels.
I am feeling pretty chuffed right now!
I have had the best night.

Andrew B Caeneden's Great Adventure Well you must be feeling ecstatic right now. Talking with David Tennant. Only you could skillfully co-ordinate that lol. Starting from the time you woke up, don’t want to be late or in a hurry, nothing was going to distract you. Had to laugh, as I did observe this was one well thought out mission. All your planning and investigating paid off! It was like an army maneuver - alarm, train times, platforms, time, position of hotel, window looking at RSC, orientation of RSC building, dinner, seats, mobile, great play, loving it, stage door...................... DAVID TENNANT ............and you spoke to each other…………..and...................................... DAVID TENNANT SIGNED YOUR PROGRAM !!!!! Little did he know you’re a devoted fan and had been masterminding this meeting for months in Australia. This was no “chance” meeting. Yep, extend your trip to see the play, sounds simplistic enough – "just do it Carolyn” **********BONUS********** Bet you’re glad you extended your trip now! Its Saturday afternoon here and the weather is pleasant, gentle breeze and the sun is out, doing some light gardening (the gardener is on sick leave) nothing planned for the weekend, just a lazy one around the house as we are both getting over colds. I have enjoyed travelling with you immensely and thank you for sharing. You have demonstrated how two little words can mean so much …….WOW……. FUN. Looking forward to Caeneden's Next Great Adventure Take care, safe flight.See you soon. Andrew Xx
