Remember what I had for breakfast/lunch/morning/afternoon tea/snack.
Look what I had for a before dinner snack.
A chocolate banana split with a container of hot REAL chocolate to pour over the whole lot as it arrives at your table.
( This may happen at other places, just I had not seen it before, and I was so excited.)
I actually think I might have overdone it.
I am sitting here swaying on the chair as I write this.
Was going back for spaghetti bolognaise in a while.
I think it's going to be a long while.
I was collected straight off the train and driven here.
I have THE BEST ROOM.
Room 514.
The girl on reception said you wanted a high room, didn't you?
So I have a view of the mountains.
But it has fogged in now.
So nice of them.
So I am sitting at the desk looking out at the view.
Beyond the pine trees at the top, there are mountains.
And I did see them!
The elevators are tricky.
The door doesn't slide open.
So I stood there waiting for ages....
Until I finally figured out that I had to get involved in the process ...
And pull open the door.
Hahahaha.
And I really did think that was bad enough.
Should have seen me when I came down in the elevator.
I stood there waiting for the door to open!
Again, I had to get involved!
Push open the door.
Been walking round grinning ever since.
So after, ohing and ahing over my room with the view, I headed out.
( Once I got out of the elevator.)
Fairly central shopping area from what I was told.
Bought a hat.
Had to.
The sun can really get you on this train travel.
Now, Switzerland may not have been the place to make this purchase.
I spent a year's pay on a baseball cap!
And I don't wear baseball caps.
Obviously very little choice ... and I needed something with a brim.
And that could squash.
I am going to take VERY good care of this hat.
I plan on mounting in in a spectacular frame on my return.
Bought a couple of magnets...
Walked up to a shop that said, 'Ring bell to enter.'
I thought that any shop that needed me to do that, wouldn't really be after my custom.
So I didn't ring the bell.
Watched a Jack Russell chase a tennis ball in the main square.
What was funny about this one...
He would race and grab the ball, then retrace the ground until he found where the ball had bounced, give that a good sniff and race back to have it thrown again.
He did the same thing every time.
Don't know how he did it.
Took the escalators down to the lake.
And those escalators are fantastic... it's a long way down to the observation point from high on the Main Street.
Wonderful view over the lake.
Then looked through the binoculars there.
Very clever.
Looking through there was a scene of the ice sports that take place when the lake freezes in December.
This time it was horse races.... The horse actually drags the man who is wearing skis.
And a horse polo match on the ice.
I was talking to a lady who said they had all types of sporting evens on the lake, especially once it froze over.
Walked round for ages.
Very cold, slight drizzle.
Checked out the specialist chocolate shops.
Thought I might get some for presents for people.
Then just as quickly realised what a stupid idea that was.
There is no way any of that would have made Tullamarine Airport.
( I don't think it would have made Zermatt.)
So everyone, it's the thought that counts.
Consider yourselves taken care of.
I am staying at the Hauser Swiss Q Hotel.
So wandering round .... ( before the chocolate banana split )
I was checking out places for dinner and found their wonderful restaurant as well.
So will head back there later.
I am LOVING St Moritz.
Only here overnight but such a nice little place.
Very few people about, mainly tourists, I think.
So nice after Munich.
I loved the tours of Munich but just a bit too big and bustling for me.
Had a completely different feel to Paris.
So I am really looking forward to the next bits.
And I am relaxing here, soaking it all in.
The hotel is taking me back to the railway station at 9.30am tomorrow to catch the Glacier Express.
Went out for spaghetti .... Back and in bed at 8pm.
Bliss.

Narelle Sounds like you are having an absolutely fabulous time! The scenery is spectacular. Swiss chocolate ..... yummmmmmYour hat looks gorgeous by the way!!
M How cool is he?!!
M I am glad you led with the chocolate sundae rather than the hat.I'm going to ignore the hat, as the tale clearly outlines why THAT hat! :) Those picture of the horses on the lake are amazing! Did you take those through the binoculars? So cool, and amazing. Would never think horses would gallop on ice. Do they need special shoes? Look my mind has been blown. The room looks so cosy. I'm glad you were happy with it, plus a view. Ok, so let's talk about the elevators... ahahahaha. I would have done exactly the same thing. Maybe it's a ploy to ensure people have the opportunity to think about which way they will turn once they leave the elevator, once the get the doors open. No blind turning right from St Moritz's bad boys. The lake shot is great mum. You look so happy!
Daryl I always assumed that the saying "Life is sort, eat dessert first" was, you know, just a saying. Ok, I'm game...Why did you buy magnets? Something to do with opening elevator doors or were you chasing that allusive, little extra something for your personality? Nice scarf. I'm a bit of a scarf man and that's a nice one.
Sandra I love the'fast orange car'pic just chucked in as a random. I bought a huge Map of Europe today and mapped out my trip. Chatted to Amanda whom is lovely and very helpful. Your mum is awesome Emily. Xx
