...I wake up in the empty hut as Mark&Kelly slowly clamber from their tent into my humble abode to make some tea and breakfast
...I set out with them towards the Gillespie Pass and after an hour our ways part as they turn towards Lake Crucible and I soldier on
...weather becomes wetter and wetter as I climb the relentless pass. Visibility is ok-ish but foggy and merciless drizzle combined with brutal wind makes me completely wet. Despite everything gore Tex and ski grade gloves. Everything is drenched by the time I reach the pass. A glass of water in each one of my mountain boots
...on the pass the wind is so strong it almost blows me off the path several times. But now it's no longer time to turn back. I pass aptly named Mt Awful and Mt Dreadful, but can't even see them on account of clouds...
...the wind blows off the rain cover from my pack and I don't even notice it
...after 7 hours of walking up and then down I finally reach the Young Hut. Hooray! I'm completely alone there. I try to light a fire to warm up but the wood is too damp or my skills too poor. I boil some tea, eat freeze dried dinner and go to sleep.
