We took a 2 hour flight from Bangkok to Hanoi with Air Asia and met up with Beth and Jim at the Kangaroo Cafe. They had organised a couple of tours for us all to go on and we left that night on the 1 st one and took an overnight train to Sapa. It was a small town right up in the mountains we must have been really high coz our ears were popping and there was mist on the ground. Our hotel had the most amazing view over looking a valley of rice paddies. On the 1st day we took a 2hour trek down into a small village which was powered by the waterfall we got to go into the houses and see how they lived. There was a big fire which was the centre of the house built on mud floors which about 8 family members all shared. Itw as a big hike back upto the hotel so we got on the back of a motorbike and held on for dear life. The next day we embarked upon a massive trek through the mountain and Burts and I really were not equipped with the correct hiking attire, 5 pound brick lane pumps!!! Our guide called Ker who was only 16 took us on the 5hour trek where we literally were walking along tiny ledges along the mountain face and crossing over wooden bridges that were fixed only by ropes it was mental. The views were amazing and Ker was so nice she only knew 1 english song by Ronan Keating but we sang it all the way anyway. Was such a good day but we didn't half pay for it the next, our muscles were aching all over our bodies we could hardly walk, we all went straight for a body massage when we got back to Hanoi. The next trip was a 3day boat trip to Ha Long Bay we shared the baot with 8 other people and were fed loads of meals all consisiting of sea food, massive Shrimps and whole fish laid out on a plate. This trip was good but for some reason they had breakfast at 7;30am bit too early for us. Itwas chilled out days though stopping for swims on deserted beaches and exploring caves. We arrived back in Hanoi and spent 1 night there before taking a 27 nightmare bus journey to Laos, the nice clean air con bus was not what we had been sold it turned out to be an old clapped out banger which broke down half way where we waited 5 hours for another one at the side of the road. We shared the back row with a group of vietnamese men who smoked bongs and cigarettes all the way Rock and ROLL, it was so nice to finally arrive in Vientiane the capital of Loas and have a hot shower and good meal.
Hope everyone ok, missing you lots. Keep up the messages. love ya's Burts and Brownie
