G'day Mate!!
Just a quick update, we are now living with Uncle Dave and Jan in Port Melbourne. Not sure how long we staying but Jan is the best cook in Oz so might be for a while. Dave and Jan have been legends giving us lifts everywhere and telling us the best places to go. At the weekend it was ST Kilda music festival bit like Middlesbrough Live but ten times bigger, it was really good!! drinking beer and watching bands makes so much difference when the sun is shining. Valentines Day was very special, Jan's friend Drives Limo's so she organised for him to come round and take us for a drive round melbourne, we were loving it although the champagne was off limits. In the evening we went to watch Mid Summer Nights Dream in the Roayal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne, it was very romantic the park was full of couples. The performance didn't start til 8pm but everyone goes down early to have a picnic before so Jan made us a very tasty lunch with 2 bottles of red. It was the Oz Shakespeare Company so the performance was very good and we had really good night. Right sorry guys i'll have to finish this later as we are going to cinema, your prob all still in bed anyway. I'll be back ......We went to see Miss Potter at a little vintage cinema in South Yara it had big velvet seats and antique lamps and mirrors everywhere. Enjoyed the movie but Burts wants to shave his beard so he can have a tash like Ewan's, jolly good!!!! Saturday morning we were up early to start our big road trip down the great ocean road in Jan's red racer. From the pics you can probably see how stunning the drive was the 12 Apostles were beautiful but it was so hot you couldn't stand around and take it in for too long. We stayed over night in a small beach town called Warnambool and treated ourselves to a nice motel with a spa. We went out in the town on saturday night and ended up in an irish pub so Burts could get amongst the guiness, it was good though as there was a band playing and we got to meet the locals as there was no other tourists there(local town, local people!!!) they all wanted us to stay at their house and have a BBQ the next day. The next morning very hungover we drove inland towards the grampians and stopped for lunch in an even smaller local town up in the middle of the mountains. The place had a very 1950's feel but was beautiful. The driving was easy as its the same as England but the roads were empty we literally would drive for over an hour and not see 1 car and very dissapointed we didn't see 1 kangaroo either. I managed to spot a sign for a winery and got a bit excited so took us down a dirt track which led us into a vineyard. There was no one around so we waited and eventually a very red faced man turns up on a quad bike, we couldn't understand a word he said and he just seemed to stare at you a bit funny. The place had a very 'wolf creek' feel to it so we bought a couple of bottles of red and quickly left and made our way back to melbourne.
Yesterday Jan took us down to Pin Oak Court aka Ramsay Street, its about 30 mins out of the city, unfortunately they were filming so the street was blocked off. We hung around waiting to catch a glimpse of someone but no luck so we will probably go back at the weekend. Anyway the neighbours night totally made up for it as we got to see Karl's band perform and they are really good. He did a few classic covers and a few of his own stuff and told a few neighbours stories, some of you might be interested to know that Karl ends up having a drunken 1 night stand with Izzy and she ends up pregnant, poor Susan!!! Oh yeh and Rick from H&A gets 18 years in jail!!!Meeting the Toadfish was very sureal but they were all really nice and friendly, Burts was still devo'd Susan or Lynny weren't there, think he likes the oldies!
Tonight we are going to see Damien Rice so really excited, still not sure when we moving on but will have to be by next week as Jan & Dave have been too good to us and we getting too used to this easy lifestyle.
Hope you all have a Happy pancake day, love ya xxx
