Wow, So much has happened in just 3 days. David forgot to write last time the most important part of the trip so far..........Elephant Ride!!! We did this on Moday morning up to the Jaipur Palace, they really are amazing creatures absolutely massive. We were so looking forward to it, well mostly me! the only problem was all i could think the whole time was how cruel it all was. The poor elephants going up and down to the palace carrying idiot tourists in the burning sun they looked so sad, I didn't enjoy it after all the anticipation and would much rather see them in the wild being free. After the ride we had yet another trusty guide who took us to another Fort, I totally pissed on his little scam coz half way through his boring factual speech i actually was sick into a bin in the main fort courtyard. Was very embaressing but was able to escape and be taken back to the hotel where i slept off a mysterious illness (prob malaria tablet) and we chilled out in the hotel garden. That night Raj took us to a open air park with restaurant and entertainment all based round a typical, traditional Indian evening. It was really cool we dressed up in Indian Clothes danced to music and ate sitting down on cushions. The food was very spicey and was served in dishes made of dried leaves, i filled up on lots of chapati bread. The drink was 'lassi' sour milk, sorry but it was rank!!! Took a sip and gave a faked smile and said thank you, delicious and never touched it again. Was a really good night saw and did everything typically Indian, oh yeh i ended up with henna tattoo all up my left hand and arm. Was good at the time but not coming off for another 15 days iv been told!
We arrived in Pushkar very happy as the hotel was lovely, really clean and with decent swimming pool. Pushkar is a holy city where alcohol, meat and eggs are banned. We had no guides here and as it was such a small town we were able to see everything ourselves by walking. It had such a good atmosphere the people were so friendly and very welcoming with no hassle of beggers or sellers. The main attraction is the holy lake, we had a holy blessing there and threw flower petals, rice and sugar in the lake then had a red bindi painted on our foreheads. Could really imagine Hippi's hanging out here in the 60's and 70's really chilled out and spiritual. The market was really good aswel, i bought 2 tops and 2 trousers and bag all for less than a fiver (Lucie & Coxy- it is like Primark and George heaven) We went swimming then had really nice meal in hotel rooftop restaurant and watched sun set over the mountains, was dieing for a beer!!!
We are really starting to love it here it just takes a while to get used to thats all. Starting to get a bit tired of curry and rice and have been fantacising about food back home. Would give anything to eat at the 'Leftbank' Restaurant!!!! Had another interesting journey in car to Jodhpur today, stopped for toilet at this raod side cafe in the middle of nowhere. We were there for hours the family who owned it fell in love with David and I, they wouldn't let us leave you would think we were the king and queen of England.
Mam i still got my necklace!! Love to everyone xxxx
