DAY 15: "LIFE IS LIKA BOXA CHOCKLITS"
Ok, scuse the spellin, cause first up I'm in Forrest Gump territory, and secondly I'm typing this from the 'World of Beer' bar in Savannah (hey, missus and young fella are having an afternoon nap - what's a guy to do right?).
We got up this morning and took a hop on / hop off tourist trolley around the historic district. I have to say, Savannah must be a professional photographer's dream - every where you turn, you got centuries old oak trees with their extended branches and Spanish moss weeping over the streets below. The homes that line these streets date back to the 1800's, some even to the century before. It is truly one of the most picturesque areas I've ever seen.
Savannah is home to 24 squares and 3 parks; each have a statue or fountain in the middle of them that has a story dating back centuries.
Some squares though are more known for recent times - we passed through Chippewa Square, the location of the famous opening park bench 'box of chocolates' scene from the movie 'Forrest Gump'.
The weather is getting colder as we head north. It reached a maximum of about 10deg here today. If you want an idea of how chilly it was overnight, check out the photos we took of the fountain in Forsyth Park!
I would've loved to stay here longer, but tomorrow we jump back in the family truckster and head to Charleston.
... And dats all I gotta say bout dat.
(Scuse the bad Gump impression!)
