We arrived into Kyoto after a blistering ride on bullet train, 500k in 2 hours, very efficient and smooth. Kyoto is a much smaller city, and is less busy and less western than Tokyo. Thankfully a few more sights to see. Yesterday we went to a few temples, which were close by. Tokyo not quite what we were hoping for. Its a bizarre place where ladies wear kimonos next to people in masks. There isn't a centre as such, just lots of districts, that we have spent the last few days working our way round. Different types of people seem to congregate in different areas. Friday we went on another trip to Phang Nga Bay. First we stopped off at Sunwankha temple which is called Monkey cave for the tourists. It gets the name from all the not so wild monkeys running round the entrance to the cave. Inside the cave is a reclining buddha and lots of bats, and outside lots of tourists feeding the monkeys bananas and nuts. Happy new Year from thailand. Today wa Songkran, thai new year, and as you will have already guessed if youve looked at the photos they celebrate by having massive water fights! It was a loads of fun, mad, people on streets with huge buckets of water to chuck at you when you walk past, and to chuck at people on bikes and cars.
