Tuesday we headed to Teotihuacan, heart of aztec empire, a hge ancient city with 2 massive pyramids. It was a bizarre place and hard to imagine what it once was like, or how on earth thry built it all. We hiked up the huge steps to the top of the pyramids. the pyramid of the Sun is the 3rd largest in the world. The taxi journey there was also an eye opener as we drove for miles, houses as far as the eye could see. However houses is a loose term, most built from breeze blocks. They looked like a building site that had stopped part way through. It was here you can appreciate the level of poverty that exists in this huge city. Mexico city was not what we expected, yes every other car is a VW beetle, the traffic is horrendous, however it is full of many ancient treasures alongside modern skyscrapers and you can also get bottles of Corona to Craigs delight for 35p!
