Recapping our last day in Tokyo.
Left the ship and battled through immigration before a very slow train journey (don't ask!) back to Tokyo. Took a cab from the station to the hotel - all of half a mile which we could have walked if only we could have found the correct exit from the huge station!
We had booked tickets to an art exhibition called TeamLab Planets. I'm afraid you will have to Google this as it is virtually impossible to describe. You wade through knee deep water in one section, another has mirrors and lights, another has living flowers which you lie under. I know. It's weird but very popular. I suppose it was an experience but if we had missed it we wouldn't have been too disappointed!
Back to the hotel we found our room had access to the Club lounge and free champagne and nibbles while looking out on the lights of Shinjuku city from the 45th floor. For dinner we went to the hotel's sushi restaurant where we sat in front of the chef while he handmade our various types of sushi. Not only entertaining but delicious as well.
In the morning - 5 45 to be precise - we got up and took a cab to the airport and thence to our 14 hour flight home which flew east and over the top of the world to LHR. We arrived at 3.30 pm but couldn't get off the plane until 4.15 because they had 'bridge issues'. Then our luggage - marked 'express' was last off. Finally our taxi home was caught up in traffic on the M25 and was late.
We hate travelling and must stop doing it!
The next issue of the blog will be the final., final one!
Love A&L xx
