Right! On Friday afternoon I tried to open the safe but three attempts later it had locked itself for 15 minutes. Quarter of an hour later, I tried again - three errors and locked out again - unnecessary as I was a.ready locked out! Despite my dear wife insinuating that I had put the wrong number in or had otherwise done something stupid, I called reception and they said someone would come over. ‘Someone’ it turned out was a team of 3 - duty manager, security and ‘engineer’. The engineer was required to unscrew a plate and open with a key!
I was told because the iPad was touching the inside of the lock, this was what had caused it! (This I doubted, having used a large number of safes over the years!) but anyway, I promised not to do it again!
So the safe worked fine for the rest of the afternoon and even when we came back from dinner. But a 06.00 would it work? Damn right it wouldn’t. Three errors in a row again but no jackpot! Now trying to get a team of three to open a safe at silly o’clock in the morning is less easy! But, believe it or not, within 20 minutes, we had the executive chef (duty manager), security and an engineer!! This time they agreed the safe was faulty! Well there’s a surprise!
Having finished packing, they took us and the luggage in the buggy to the main house for breakfast but we had to skip the eggs benedict!
