A couple of days ago we were coming off the beach. Opened the car boot, put some stuff in and shut it. Quite hard! Little was I to know that Lin was behind me and had inserted her head into said boot at the same time. She got quite a bang on the head!
When we got home I provided an ice pack and fortunately, apart from a lasting bruise there was no other damage. At least that is noticeable!
Now we’re established it’s been a quiet couple of days walking on the beach (Andy’s knee is improving) with the odd paddle (it really is too cold to swim) and a dip in the pool at the apartment. Last night we went to a Greek restaurant just down the road and tonight we are going to a tapas place almost opposite.
Next door to the Greek restaurant is a pub. It is, allegedly, the smallest pub in Africa. To be honest it isn’t that small and it has a lot of outdoor seating. A local coffee shop we have found is in fact a lot smaller. We’re not impressed with the pub!
This place is so convenient - we can walk to shops (Woolies, Pick n Pay etc), restaurants, the beach. Everything is pretty much on our doorstep.
Today we decided to venture into the big smoke. Or Cape Town! Arrived at the Waterfront in time for coffee and then had a general wander. First stop, of course, had to be Cape Union Mart - Andy’s favourite shop! Stocked up on a couple of Ts and some sandals to keep him happy. Then just a general mooch - it keeps expanding over the years but we think it has about reached its limit. There are large metal animals in one street - called the urban jungle (see pics when I get them added).
Back home for lunch and then a trip to the beach. To be honest it was too windy to lie and sunbathe but that didn’t stop Lin. Andy went for a walk along the beach to build up the strength in his ‘new’ knee! We then had an ice cream and chocolate sauce (shared) which was yummy but because the sand was blowing in we had to sit in the shade behind the plastic walls and it got a tad chilly!
Tonight we are eating in - chicken - although we did pop out to the local pub for a pre prandial cocktail and it was heaving! Turns out it is quiz night!
Anyway, Saturday we move on to Newlands so will be a (little) way from the beach. If only the sea was warmer....
