Douglas Brown's Travels
DAY 14
Another 8am start on what looked to be a fine day. Wet weather gear was packed in the top box. Todays ride was 277km and it was estimated that it would take us 8 hours including stops.
We headed out if town in the morning traffic towards Konice the first major town in todays route. Once again there were may small villages to negotiate. Some of only Two or three houses.
First stop of the day was at Bouzovar Castle for morning coffee and a toilet break.

We were too early for a tour of the castle so we had our coffee and decided to push on to give us mor time in Prague.
We then wound our way through the Czech countryside passing through Jevicko and Policka. The scenery had changed as we were in predominantly crop growing region of Czech Republic. Between the little villages were fields of poppies, corn and cereal crops. By far the most stunning were the poppy fields which appeared as a carpet of off white tinged with the occasional red splotch.
It was mandatory for q stop in the fields for a photo shoot. I am not sure what then farmer would think when he found a few square meters of trampled flowers. It would have only been half a meter except Thomas decided to lay in the field in a particularly arty pose.
Next stop was at Rychtar resturant in Hilinsko for a hearty cooked lunch. However, 5km before lunch the heavens opened up and we donned our wet weather gear again. The intense rain show only lasted 10 minutes.
Servos was slow at this resturant and it was over an hour before we got back on our bikes and headed for Sec.
We rode through Sec and Caslav and had A stop at Kutna Hora to view Ossuary Chapel Of All Saints.

I found this site macabre and un-settling. I also could not understand the motivation to construct such a site.
From here on the traffic got much heavier and we all had to work extremely hard to stay together as a group.
Our hotel for the two days in Prague was the Falkensteiner Hotel which is within easy walking distance of the new and old city.
After freshening up and changing we were taken to another ale house for dinner. The hose Black Beer was exceptionally good and Olga tried the beer sampler tray which contained Caramel, coffee, Ginger and Banana beer.
