We spent our final morning in Prague exploring the many shops in the city. Most things are cheaper in Prague than elsewhere, so it was a great opportunity to add some clothes to our suitcases. Rossco's ruthless packing regime for the trip had left me with some room for purchases!
After a little shopping Rossco insisted that we visit a restaurant in Old Town Square where he swears he ate the best pork ribs ever! He just couldn't leave the country without another bite if these ribs... In his defense they are spectacular. We then jumped on a tram and visited a small town over the other side of the river to the city which is residence to government offices and diplomatic consulates. Of course an obligatory beer needed to be consumed as a gesture to the good people of the town. Rossco has his principles.
We flew out of Vaclav Havel airport at 6:30 for our flight to Venice.
The transit between the two cities was fantastic and our flight ended as quickly as it began. Rossco had booked a water transit from the airport to San Marko...a 30 minute transit by scenic cruiser dropping us outside the hotel....Almost 3 hours later we arrived at our hotel! By the time the cruiser arrived for us at the airport we had been waiting over 1 hour. Then the route was different and the transit took 1.5 hours. Our scenery was to the darkness outside and the occasional light in the distance. We were packed into this little boat like sardines and the Gilligan's island theme kept on playing in my head!
We arrived at the hotel, which I had booked online during one of my 'lets be sensible and frugal' moments of holiday planning ( there was only one of these moments). The only words to describe the accommodation is simple motel Venice style. They 'filled in' our paperwork by hand for our booking - no computers or wi-fi here. By the time we had checked in, we had missed dinner at service at the restaurants, all that was left was the pizza 'joint' next store....with chin up and a positive attitude we ordered our beers and late night pasta/pizza. Early night tonight, we planning a new introduction to Venice tomorrow.
