Our self-drive tour continued from Pisa to a town on the Italian coast called Arenzano. Rossco really found his passion for driving in Italy once we hit the Autostrat getting up to speeds of 160kph in the little Lancia, whilst my fingers gripped the seat in horror! Arenzano is part of the Province of Genoa and is a holiday resort for the Italians. It is full of holiday villas and clubs/restaurants that are packed to the brim in summer. We stayed at Punta San Martino hotel which is on the cliff above the water. The views from our balcony were the best views I have ever seen - 360 degrees across the water looking down on the beach and up towards the mountains. BWe stayed in, and enjoyed the luxury of moving between the two pools at the hotel and some well earned cocktails by the pool. The hotel also has a cable car that takes you down the cliff to their private beach below, where Rossco swam and bobbed in the salty Mediteranian waters. We dined at the hotel for dinner pool-side, enjoying the sunset across the turquoise waters. Very romantic!
Arenzano is a little jewell on the Italian Riviera, and we both agree that this is a special place we would like to come back to again someday.
