Today we have finally left Wales. Not that we have any objection to Wales, it's just that we leave momentarily and then find something else to go and see there. We think we have wandered in and out of Wales about 10 times over the last couple of days as we negotiate our way around the border area. But finally we have said goodbye to Wales - and hello to The Lakes district.
Before we left Wales, we went on a canal boat ride with a difference. This one crosses an aquaduct, 127 feet and 8 inches above the River Dee. The eight inches is very important, obviously. Really fun - it is tempting to think that maybe we could do a canal boat trip ourselves.
Then we headed to Windermere, and onto Bowness, where we eventually were let into our self catering accommodation, which is in the top of a house, and has a beautiful view of the lake. We are up in the attic, with a lovely modern kitchen/living room, spacious bedroom and bathroom. We have already walked across to a lookout down the length of Windermere, second load of washing is underway, much to the relief of our wardrobe options, and we have had a fairly mundane but adequate pasta meal. Has to be said, I won't know how to cook by the time I get home.....we have been seriously indulged....
