Well we are ready for France now!!
Who would have thought after driving for 7 hours east of our home in Toronto you could feel like you are in another country! Many of the people who reside in Quebec city do not even class themselves as Canadian they see themselves as French. I must admit it does feel French, they are better dressed, have real coffee, enjoy food, speak French and the buildings look European.
On arriving into Quebec after our long drive (you have to understand we had both just worked an 80 hour week) it was apparent we were not going to party. But upon setting into our B&B we were just in awe that we had clean sheets and beautiful decor, our Toronto house is very simple. So the next 36 hours were spent rambling about old Quebec, walking into art galleries, sipping wine, and eating Italian/French cuisine!!
Leaving Quebec saw us taking the back roads to Montreal along the Lakes. Bron even got the courage to drive on the right hand side of the road. We took in the sights from the coloured maple leaves, to the quaint farm houses, and the off road market stall holders until we arrived in the bustling city of Montreal. What a contrast to both Toronto and Quebec. Finally we hit a town that had the feel of Melbourne, yet there is 1 major difference everyone is bilingual in both French and English. It was a pity we only had 6 hours here yet we made them most of it. Strolling through the Old Town, the parks and of course going out fro dinner. And as it was one of the last nights together in Canada we went all out and eat a huge seafood platter...hey what are holidays for?
