Left Barkly today, headed for heartbreak hotel in Cape Crawford. Perfect camp spot, grassy and shady spot. Pool on one side, pub across the lawn, hot showers-happy days. After a swim, and dinner at camp-we got to be front row, watching Rod Dowsett performing outside at the pub. It was awesome to sit by the camp, have a wine and dance to his country tunes!

Great night in the lovely oasis that is the Barkly Homestead. Kids managed a swim in the pool, we enjoyed dinner and beers at the homestead, watching the state of origin. I was surprised how quiet the Homestead was, there was nothing else for a very long way.

Lovely night spent in Mt Isa-re supply and washing!! 5 loads of washing done! Really enjoyed the facilities at the big 4, cooking in the camp kitchens and many long long showers to wash away the Winton grime!!! Headed for the Barkly Homestead now,crossed the border into the Northern Territory!! Bit of a moment for us all. Aden (our speed police) loved the 130km/hr speed limit, and was a little disappointed we were not going that fast.

Headed into Winton today, origin of Banjo Paterson , waltzing Matilda, opals and dinosaur stuff! Went and checked out the Age of the Dinosaur museum. Spectacular outlook, great staff and really interesting stuff. All six kids were totally mesmerised by the information given and Emma and Ebony were feeling a bit infected by dinosaur fever. Emma is keen to come back to Winton, to become a digger, needs to be at least 12 though-so that may be on the cards next t...

Left Jericho, headed to Longreach for lunch and the Stockmans Hall of Fame. Nice museum although not really aimed towards kids as lots of reading! Headed to Winton for a 2 night stop. Have found a free-be, lots of caravans near the lagoon, so we have set up on our own in the bush. Kids have the fire stoked 24/7. Have all we need.....this is living!
