Busy and bustling, it's a bit of a shock to arrive in Queenstown - cars, shops, restaurants and most of all people. The majority of whom are dressed in brightly coloured jumpsuits en route to jump out or, or off something a couple of hundred feet of the ground. Crazy People. We grab an armful of brochures and consider the options. We discard most of them as being a bit too dangerous and possibly involving the temporary loss of use of a limb or two. A bit more discussion and all the brochures are in the discard pile and we are weighing up the dangers inherent in an overly-hot cup of coffee or finding a muffin without salmonella. In the end we go for a 7 km walk around the lake in the middle of the day and get far too much sun, so that puts paid to any further plans and we have to spend the next day recuperating by scurrying from coffee shop to camping gear shop trying to avoid the blistering rays of the sun by spending vast amounts of money and eating too much. It seems to work.
Extreme shopping may be as close as I am ever going to get to a dangerous sport.
