Christmas in Bali - where we were expecting clear blue skies, warm temperatures and basking by our private pool instead we got torrential downpours, thunderous skies and an influx of flying insects seeking shelter from the non-stop deluge. It's a battle of the elements and I think the elements are winning. The only upside is that it is still warm enough for flip-flops and shorts, so nothing gets too wet for very long. Or rather it stays damp forever. Shopping has had to take a back-seat though. Only temporarily I hope. Even my umbrella has given up with a big sigh, I think it's gone mouldy.
My lovely little sister sent a box of carefully planned small and useful presents for us to open on Christmas morning, including a portable glittery tree - our very own Christmas in a box. Thanks Ruth. And nieces.
Meanwhile Brian got busy putting his cunning christmas plan into action and proposed on Christmas morning. Imagine my surprise. No longer on that dusty old shelf. phew. So I promptly declared myself astounded and discombobulated before graciously giving him the nod of approval. Apparently however we can't get married in an even-numbered year due to some olde footballing lawe so please don't rush out to buy any expensive hats or the like as it's extremely unlikely they will still be fashionable by the time I totter down any aisle.
