From Ilha Grande we took a 2 hour city bus to the coastal town of Paraty (Para-che).
How to describe Paraty??... A small historic town with brightly colourd buildings, lots of cathedrals/churches on cobble streets. Veeerrryyy pretty. Our rooms were log cabins with lots of insence.
Our hostel was situated on the beach (not a great beach) about 20 mins outside of town. Our group here were fantastic, we all clicked. On day one Le (she hates me calling her that haha!!) and I spent the day wondering around town, shopping in all the small shops...everything is sooooo pretty. I was left unsupervised for 3 mins and spent the equivilant of 2 nights accomidation on 2 sarongs. But....its ok because they are the most beautiful sarongs ever!!! I often wear them as dresses (rach....south America is being sick all over me!!). Day 2 we took a bus up into the rainforest (i love the smell of the rainforest) and went to a place called Penha waterfalls. This water fall was used as a massive slide. Was really cool! I wondered around as i still cant swim but it was definatley very beautiful. Slipped on the rocks and started sliding into the water....thrt i was dooooomed. Leanne was laughing alot alot alot. I mangaged to get a grip and saved myself. Waiting for the bus on the way back down we got caught in the rain and a Brazilian couple pulled up and offered us a lift into town. Racel and Phillpe....very interesting sweet people. They are kinda hippyish and lurved old school rock music.
Our last night I cooked dinner with leanne, leo and Anthony. A nice pasta was followed by a very heavy night. Our barman took us to his friends leaving party in town. She hired a resturant and im sure the Brazilians made it their mission to get us wrecked... the locals were teaching us how to samba dance...im awful (really awful) but it was so much fun!! The next day we left for a loooong bus journey. I was not feeling good, for 2 days my tummy felt like a washing machine. Damn Caprihanas .
Paraty rated at....7.5
