[Last Planning Updates: Friday]
Just because I like to be super organised (some might suggest I was a planning freak - VERY UNFAIR! ;) am just posting this as a place to throw links to websites for ideas of things to do and places to go etc:
Cape Brett / Hole in the Rock Cruise (Northland) - http://www.fboi.co.nz/hole-in-the-rock-cruise/
Comedy Festival (Auckland) - have been to this in previous years, theres usually some great comedians around :) http://www.comedyfestival.co.nz/
Ellerslie (Auckland) - The racing is a fun day too :) http://www.ellerslie.co.nz/aucklandracing/racing/index.cfm
Warriors (Auckland) - It's our national sport - going to a game is a must ;) besides the Warriors are having a surprisingly good run of it lately! http://www.warriors.co.nz/page/2009_nrl_draw_vodafone_warriors.html
Tusk! (Auckland) - My absolute favourite restaurant. We *are* going there - think of it as a "challenge" for your tastebuds :D http://www.tusk.co.nz/
Mission Bay (Auckland) - Lovely little city beach about 5 minutes from work with fantastic cafe's and restaurants on the beach (posted a pic in the Albums)
Auckland Zoo (Auckland) - Havn't been there for donkey's years, and I like zoo's O.o (optional activity if we have time) :) http://www.aucklandzoo.co.nz/
Waitomo Caves (Waikato) - Waikato (Cambridge specifically where I grew up) is the area above Taupo and below Auckland its good "Dairy Farm Country". Waitomo is a hugely popular place to go as it has amazing Glow Worm caves which are really neat :) http://www.waitomo.com/
Rapids Jet (Taupo) - This is awesome, I did this YEARS ago, its an absolutely seat of your pants thrillride! http://www.rapidsjet.com/
Pipi / Tuatua Gathering! (Beach Somewhere) - This is just a NZ thing that everyone does! particularly in the summer when the water is warmer :) "Tuatua (Paphies subtriangulata) are are shellfish found on sandy beaches. They are usually harvested when there is a very low tide. People feel for the shellfish with their feet, only grasping them with their hands when they have located a group. The daily limit is 150 per person." - Basically just find a beach, wait for low tide.. then walk around wiggling your toes till you find some shellfish.. they're yummy!
