Good bye NZ and Hello Australia!Flew to Brisbane on 23rd and booked into the city backpackers. Walked around the bustling city and took in the sights. Stopped for lattes in the Botanic gardens before heading into Chinatown. The following day Paul & I hired a wicked campervan and departed south to Surfers Paradise. A few beverages were consumed and the locals took us to an interesting bar... Paul hooked up with a friend of his dads back in Brisbane, and then it was northward bound to the reef! We stopped in HerveyBay and spent the night in the marina club house with fellow yacht and maritime folk!Sydney, Brisbane to Fiji - From: $685
Sydney to Auckland - From: $362 In the morning we set sail on the spirit of HerveyBay in the search of Humpback whales... It was an overcast day, however the views of FraserIsland. It wasn't long before we witnessed humpback whales migrating from Antarctic waters to the warm waters of the tropics for calving. It would appear mothers and calves are now relaxed and at home with the whale watching boats. The humpbacks are one of the most active and acrobatic of species they provide an awesome sight with their antics, including spectacular displays of breaching, tail flapping and pectoral slapping.
