Monday was spent at a slower pace than the rest of the visit to Schoonebeek. We used the time to prepare for our upcoming camping trip and Aunty Margareth helped us through it, lending us anything we could ask for, and even some things we didn't, but we did have to decline the kind offer of cellotape, erasers, apple corer, whisk, baking tins, Aunty Margareth and many more She even managed to sneak in a few extras for us like fruit, Dutch peppermints and most yummy - Dutch chocolate hail.
In the afternoon we had time to squeeze in a visit to Museum Zandstrooiboerderij (of which Uncle Albert is on the committee) and another driving lesson on the right (wrong!) side of the road. It felt a bit easier this time although I did pull out of the petrol station on the left side. Oopsies!
The museum was very interesting and had a lot of old tools relating to farm equipment and carpentry, and had a lady doing traditional sand carpets and even had photos of the people who used to live in the building. The sand carpets were created on a Saturday night for the Sunday. The lady demonstrated how to do it, and we also gave it a go ... it didn't turn out nearly as nice as hers! During our visit, there was a man from the local radio station, Radio Drenthe, interviewing some people from the museum committee for a live radio program. When hearing we were from New Zealand he asked if he could ask us a couple of questions live. I was sure they'd ask Rebecca as she at least sounds kiwi ... but the microphone was put in my direction when he went live. We've no idea what the introduction was to us though ... we only understood 'Nieuw Zeeland'. The question was at least in English, "What did you think of the museum" and I hope my answer was ok. There is a link to the broadcast on the internet somewhere, but upon hearing it later, I've decided it's too embarrassing to post here, sorry

Dad B Me too. It is quite fun with the sand. I managed quite well - must be my autistic - artistic side coming out.

Kristin It's great fun trying to drive on the "right" side of the road....I know all about that ;-)
daniel What!! You had wrong side of the road driving lessons!!! Thats Cheating!! You are supposed to just jump in the car when you get it from the hire outfit and plunge into German rush hour traffic.
