Today we were decided to have a lazy / relaxing day as we needed a break from the busyness of sightseeing. We started the day with skyping the family and then headed to the local shopping centre in search of a hairdresser. Brett already needed a haircut before we left home and it was now a month on and looking shocking! Success, Brett is looking his handsome self again :) Sami will be pleased & Mom M will be upset to know that Brett has hair gel in his hair again!
After doing a huge load of washing we searched the Lonely Planet for indoor sightseeing ideas to try and escape the heat for a bit. We headed off to Wattens to the Swarovski Kristallwelten (crystal world). We weren't too sure what to expect but it was fantastic (and cool). It has 15 different rooms where crystals have been combined with art. In the entrance hall they had the most amazing crystal chandelier - I did ask Brett if we could get one for our new house ;) Under that they had the Centenar, a 310,000 carat crystal!
Some of the rooms were a tad too 'arty' for our uncouth selves but they were all very interesting and different. Easily the coolest room was the Crystal Dome which seemed like you were inside an amazingly cut crystal. Apparently there are 595 mirrors in the room and the acoustics of the room were crazy. A very quiet 'wow' was amplified to a rather loud 'WOW!!!!!'.
At the end of the exhibition rooms was a shop with more Swarovski crystal than I have ever seen. Brett really wanted the €15,000 dragon that he saw but we just settled on some earrings for me instead :)
