Summary
Disembarking off the ferry into Helsinki, the ferry ride had not yet cured our hangover from the previous night in Tallin. So ill we felt we decided to skip Helsinki completely and drive about 30km's north until we found a carpark and spent the rest of the day sleeping. The next couple of days we spent driving north. The scenery was beautiful but extremely repetitive. Lake after lake surrounded by Birchwood forest. The country is extremely flat as well. We did do a 17km walk through pretty much mud in Syote National Park that was really beautiful. We did manage to get ourselves lost at one stage but thankfully we had the intuition to turn back and read the map properly. We then headed towards the coast and into Sweden.
Crossing the border into Sweden and heading north again, the scenery changed from lake after lake in Finland to frozen lake after frozen lake in Sweden. The tress disappeared as well making the reindeer and moose easier to see feeding amongst the low brush. The vastness of the country is mesmerising and we both really enjoyed the change in scenery. But Sweden was a blur, the anticipation of Norway was too much. In less than 2 days we drove from Sweden to Norway stopping only once to have a look at a waterfall beside the road.
