Off to tick off the next country we had breakfast then waited for the taxi to arrive, we decided they might as well drop of mum & the German couple (Ramona & Flo) at the hotel they were picking the car up from as it was sort of on the way. Then I was off to the airport hoping that mum would be waiting at lax airport in a few weeks without much incident travelling by herself. A stop at Terminal 2, then directed to Terminal 3 I was happy to see the flight listed on the board. Check in didn't start until noon (I was there about 10.40) for a 13.15 flight but there were only 16 gates so I was soon through immigration to the gate, stopping to spend the last 5CUC on a packet of chocolate cookies & water. At the gate the screen continued to say 'check in' until 15mins after our flight time but of course there were no updates as to why there was a delay or when we would board. Finally at close to 2pm we were bussed to our 120 seater plane & it took no time to board as there were only 22 passengers. The 2.5hr flight went by with a small but tasty Ham roll & real Coke to drink with views over the water & various Caribbean islands as we flew. On arrival the process was fairly simple & it only took 5-10 mins to locate & wait for the shared minibus from the airport to the bus station. For 5.25Guilders ($4) it was a quick trip & I was dropped off right at the floating bridge which was lit up with the Dutch style pastel colour buildings opposite. Across the bridge & along the waterfront I then had to cross over another foot bridge & up along a back street. It was just getting dark so I'm glad I wasn't here any later as it was a bit quiet on the street for my liking. Checking in I was shown to my room which I shared with one other, only the top bunk was available & it was extremely high. I made my bed & head off again, this time taking a different route into the main square where I found a restaurant with outside tables & they had spareribs with chips & veg as the daily special so for $13AUD I had a very tasty filling dinner & Sprite. As a bonus there is free wifi practically everywhere so I used it whilst I ate dinner then caught up on some more internet use once I returned to the hostel. I also got chatting with a German girl who had been traveling for almost a year & had spent 3 months in Columbia. With plans to get up early I didn't get to bed as early as I should have & it took a while to get to sleep as its been forever since I did this hostel thing, plus it was quite hot & stuffy.
