After a bit of a disturbed sleep having been woken at 2am, then about 6 by my room mate I awoke enough to climb down from my lofty bed & get organised to explore Willemstad a little more. I left my bag at the hostel & firstly had breakfast at the same place as last night, yogurt & muesli with coffee went down well. There were 2 cruise ships in town so it was soon rather crowded in town and besides shopping for daggy souvenirs there wasn't a lot to see. Although the tap water was apparently fine to drink it wasn't settling well with me so i returned to collect my bag early & headed back into town. I bought my obligatory magnet, leaving the Curacao liqueur tasting packs due to the exuberant prices then walked towards the floating bridge, stopping to be amused by the cruise day trippers oblivious to the beeping on the bridge warning that it was opening for a boat to get through. Crossing over into swarms of incoming tourists I was soon at the otrabanda bus station & a collective taxi was just about to leave for the airport. My flight to Aruba at 2.30 pm was only 30minutes but I had to wait almost 2.5hrs for my flight, someone really should start a ferry if it's that close! I hadn't spend much so had a few notes to change but spent the last of my coins on some Doritos from the vending machine. Soon enough I was in Aruba having flown on a small 50 seater plane. I was supposed to use the free airport wifi to let my Airbnb person know I had arrived but I couldn't get it to connect so I didn't get picked up until nearly 4.30pm. I had time to change my Curacao Guilders to Aruban Guilders & hopefully that would last me. Alex the Airbnb guy I was renting an apartment from was nice enough to take me for a drive through town then our along the hotel zone past eagle beach. It's so seperated from the rest of town & with the Hardrock cafe etc you might as well holiday in the USA. Back in town I was dropped at the apartment which had a little kitchen as well as balcony, much better to have my own space. A short walk into town I merged with the dwindling cruise crowd (there were 4 cruise ships in today!!!!!) and wandered down through the shops to the marina area where I had a savoury Dutch pancake (like a pancake pizza) & the local beer, Balashi. There was a nice breeze coming off the water as the sun set. I'd managed to get some basic breakfast stuff from the supermarket earlier so I was all set to return to the apartment after dinner to use the wifi & watch some trashy tv before bed.
