Day 80 - long bus from Antigua to Managua in Nicaragua
After much consideration, alittle research and looking at our time ahead and the places we REALLY wanted to go, we reluctantly decided to skip through El Salvador and Honduras and make our way straight to Nicaragua. So we left Antigua at 2am, got to Guatemala city and got on our 17hr bus ride to Managua, Nicaragua leaving at 4am.
The bus ride wasn't too bad, with a few naps here and there as well as a few movies, either dubbed in Spanish or with subtitles we were in San Salvador before we knew it. We stopped for an hour in the bus terminal compound where we got locked in. We watched some soccer with the other trapped passengers and then got back on the bus for another 8hrs to arrive into Managua at around 9pm. Managua did not look like the best place to be at night. We got into our taxi who immediately warned us about staying in the area and it not being safe. We arrived at our hostel, which we had booked prior to arriving, and was reluctantly greeted and let in. They had already rented our room out as we arrived 2 hours later than we said, thanks guys. We negotiated our way into paying the same price for a better room, the only one they had left. We went to bed and left very early in the morning to get to Granada. That was Managua.
