Despite leaving Paris (sigh…) only this morning, it feels like we've been traveling for weeks. It was a wonderful stay in Zagreb. We had a good flight, saw beautiful snowy alpine scenery along the way and landed in Zagreb spot on time - very smooth sailing indeed. We had a wash and a rest as soon as we checked in and eventually headed out as dusk fell to enjoy Zagreb's awesome Christmas lights.
We were upgraded to a fabulous one bedroom suite with views over the picturesque old town. The dinner and breakfast inclusive package rate was superb - came to A$222 - which we figure probably covered the food and bev (just). And breakfast with help-yourself sparkling wine was a great way to start a Sunday.
We had a laugh at checkout time. The fellow who checked us in took an imprint of our credit card for 16,000 kuna. Obviously I need to look harder at these things - but I saw what I expected to see - 1600 kuna - which is the difference between $3,500 odd and $350 odd. Almost gave me heart failure when the hold came through on the AMEX app shortly after check-in. I mentioned it to the man who checked us out and he confirmed the extra zero was unintentional - after all, he said, we aren't a rock band or staying for 10+ days. Though it would be awfully nice.
