Just landed back in Cairo this morning, after an early flight from Luxor. Sorry the updates are a few days behind, we have just been too busy sightseeing and chilling out to find time for writing! The rest of our stay in Luxor was brilliant. We saw and did everything we wanted to and more besides - all of the famous temples and tombs in and around the city, a trip to the temple at Dendara, a relaxing sunset felucca ride (not towed by a motor boat this time), carriage ride around the city, strolling around the markets and shopping areas (the local ones, not the tourist souk), fending off the hassle from people trying to persuade you to buy things, take taxis, carriages or feluccas, go on trips, visit a family member's shop / alabaster workshop / restaurant etc. And plenty of relaxation around the hotel, too. Our guide, Magdi, was absolutely superb, really sharing his knowledge with us on the tours and proving to be friendly and warm company into the bargain. The flight up this morning was fine, hardly in the air for long at all. Met at the airport by Ahmed, our representative here in Cairo, who was his usual friendly self. As I write this, he is sorting out our check in here at the hotel. Seeing him again and meeting our Cairo guide, Hassan, again later to go out to visit the Egyptian Museum, feels like catching up with old friends. Well, we just got into our room, different one to last time, but with pyramid view again (see photo) and very nice as expected. Just time for a drink and maybe a piece of their delicious cake before we set off for the museum and, if there's time, the old Coptic area of the city. Hoping to have the chance to see a bit more of the city itself than on our first stay, now we're a bit more accustomed to Egypt and more confident getting ourselves around. Not as wimpish as it sounds, that. This place is huge, crowded and chaotic!
