Day 14
Finally, we get to go on our speedboat for the day on the Lake. We were provided with a map, and decided to also rent a tube, for surfing on the back of the boat. Chris drove the boat while me and Mum did some surfing on the back, it was great fun, I went first, and got to 15 miles per hour, then when Mum went, Chris took her to 30 miles per hour, so I just had to have another go to beat that. We took a picnic with us, and a fishing rod. We took ourselves around some of the canyons, and then stopped for a swim and lunch, the water was so warm it was like having a bath. Mum left out a plastic lid for the veggie dips we had, and the lid melted, it was so hot, so she kept making me put on more sun cream, and drink loads of water. The first canyon we went down was called Labyrinth Canyon which got so thin towards the end we had to reverse out, then we went to Face Canyon where I did some more tubing and Chris towed me at about 30 miles per hour. The last canyon we went down was called Navajo Canyon which was massive and had really high sides. We then started our return trip and went past the Glen Canyon Dam. We refilled the boat with fuel and saw more fish there than we did in the entire lake while we were fishing – typical!!
We went back to the RV and left Lake Powell at about 4pm for Bryce Canyon. It was dark when we got there at about 8.00pm, but we didn’t realise the time went forward 1 hour, so it was actually 9.00pm. We just caught reception before they closed, and they had no record of our reservation, but had spaces, so it was not a problem. We then had to rush to get dinner in the nearby restaurant, as they stopped serving at 9.30pm. When we went to park the RV, someone had parked in our spot, and because it was late, we just decided to park in the spot next door, but it was very tight. We were so tired we just climbed into our beds and would sort everything out in the morning.
