It's over :(
The sun was shining, we'd arranged breakfast in the park with Minnie and her friends as our farewell breakfast to end our trip. We spent the rest of the day doing all the rides we all loved the most at Disneyland - Autopia for Max, Space Mountain for Gab and I, Dumbo for Emerson and Toy Story Midway Mayhem for all of us.
We spent our last few hours in Toontown, a new land we hadn't been to before. If I could reset the clock to when I was 16 I'd be doing whatever I had to be an imagineer, these guys do awesome work everywhere we go, but in Toontown more than anywhere else you can smell the ink from the pages of the cartoon strip you're walking around. Fantastic place and a great way to end the trip.
Of course we had to ride that monorail out of the park for our last exit, such an icon. I think this is the 7th one they've commissioned, this one isn't that old, though it looks just like it was lifted out of 1968, more tremendous imagineer work.
That sun has kept out all day so we get back to the hotel and have one final swim in the pool, it's not going to be pool weather where we're heading. I enjoy my last poolside bar service for the foreseeable future then its time to pack our gear and go.
We arrive at LAX just as the sun goes down. Like Frankfurt there are no amenities beyond security, if they tell you that none of us listened, so after 20 minutes looking for restaurants and duty free we go back out past security and grab some dinner - Last Pinks Hotdog until… :(
For our last flight we're on an A380, sweet! Emerson falls asleep well ahead of take off and checks out all the way to somewhere near Vanuatu! Inflight entertainment is so good Max doesn't touch is iPod or DS for the whole flight. I finished season 3 of The Wire, the only thing I've watched apart from Bourdain episodes for the past two months.
We manage to find a taxi for our four people, eight bags and four carry on bags. The taxi has axle trouble as we come out of the tunnel in North Sydney, we limp home with a flashing dash for what seems like an eternity.
So by the time I write this we've been home now for a week and a half. School, Rugby, Taekwondo, Ballet, Masterchef and a painful absence of wait staff have conspired to ensure we know we're not travelling the world anymore. This blog has forced me to keep the photos well organized, but the gigs of video I've collected laughs at me every morning.
Yesterday I made presentations for the kids to show their classes about their trips. Having to summarise everything we've done in the past two months brought home just how lucky we've been to take this adventure together. Every morning I catch myself either on webjet or Disneycruises looking for $1 flights somewhere. The next adventure won't be two months long, but it can't be too far away either.
Thanks for a magical time guys, we'll never forget it!

adam welcome back (belatedly) brad! - thanks for keeping us (enviously) entertained for the last couple of months - it's been a great read.
