Today I finally understand the attraction of these 14 day cruises. The kids are yapping about kids club from the get go. A lazy breakfast, a swim in the pool, I sit and watch an hour or so of Lion King on funnel vision with them, some lunch. All under beautiful clear Caribbean sun.
We check the kids into Kids club and we're set for a clear afternoon of drinks in the sun. Some more time in the hot tub, I'm still taken by the glass wall and floor. A few beers in the pool then off upstairs to cool on the deck with a South Carolina couple Gab & Garry have met.
I make my way back to the hot tub and adopt an equilibrium strategy, I start ordering an espresso with each beer. Pretty soon the waitress is just bringing them over to the hot tub every 20 minutes or so without asking - this is a tough gig. In the tub my strategy was working perfectly. At 5:30 I realized I only had half an hour until the show, jumped out of the tub - whoa there was a flaw somewhere in my plan, I must have a sudden middle ear infection or I'm tanked. I jump in the pool, nice but it doesn't clear the fog. Man on a mission I float with a giggle to myself all the way to our room, I can't get the key out of my pocket but Ronald is there to swipe me in, I thought this guys towel art was impressive, his radar like knack for popping up and helping me exceeds it.
I struggle to keep my eyes open during the show. But I'm waking up every time I recognize a song, Bear Necessities, Hakuna Mitata. Diner is the Enchanted Garden again tonight, the kids are itching to get back to Kids Club, at 9pm when the staff from the club turn up to collect them they abandon their deserts to get down there.
With the kids entertained we finally get to check out a few of the other bars on board, Europa is a section of the boat with a bunch of European themes bars. We start off in Skyline Lounge a very swanky room with Panels in the wall that change every 15 minutes to display an animated skyline of Paris, London, Budapest, Barcelona, Florence and St Petersburg. They have matching cocktails for each city, but I resist the urge to take the full tour. We meet up with the South Carolina couple and head to Oolala, a champagne bar. They're disappointed only Nicki takes the champagne so close a round later. The only remaining bar is The Tube. We meet up here with the producer for the live shows we've been watching this week, try a few more stupid cocktails for 2 in the morning, then the tube closes too.
Hard for today to compete with yesterday, but was still fantastic. Tomorrow we're spending the day on Disney's private Island - Castaway Cay, all the experienced Disney cruise people on board say it's awesome, quietly excited.
