Spa day continues today, I woke up just in time for my 8am massage. This is the nicest massage room I've been in, full glass wall looking out over a crystal blue sea, I drift off in a few minutes. When I wake up I'm looking out at George Town in the distance on Grand Cayman island.
Breakfast with everyone then Max and I head off to get ashore for our snorkeling, Gab, Emerson and the McGraths are all going off on a pirate adventure. Pretty soon Max and I are strapping on our flippers when I realize it is close to exactly a year since we last went snorkeling. That time it was on the Great Barrier Reef, I can't really believe a year later here we are just off Grand Cayman!
Max is spotting fish left and right, I'm buzzing around with the camera and capturing none of them :) We have a fantastic time even though the marine life isn't as impressive as our reef. We jump back on board and head to a shipwreck of the Cali for another go. The story is that this ship was purposefully sunk by its captain in the 50's to avoid a hurricane on its way into port, apparently this is common practice when you're in real trouble. The captain didn't think about his cargo though, when the water hit his cargo the rise he was carrying swelled and split the boat in two! It's a good story anyway :)
Off in the distance we can see a pirate ship, on board the Garry and the Girls are having a great time walking the plank, jumping off the side of the boat and torturing a poor mother who volunteered to be part of the show. Her punishment was to listen to all the things her kids didn't like her doing, and if the captain agreed he poured ice water over her!
Max and I had a burger at a shanty restaurant on the shore, I had a Rum Runner then was completely incapable of running afterwards :) Crawling back to the ship we meet up with the girls who are in line to finally try out the Aquaduck water slide. We zip around the ship on this thing having a ball, look it up on youtube, I can't describe how awesome it is. The kids and I hit the pool and catch half an hour of Beauty and the Beast, Belle is Emerson's favourite at the moment.
The show tonight is Buckets and Boards and we all have a ball with their percussion and comedy, Max comes out tapping on everything. Chracter hnting before dinner we catch Peter Pan, Captain Hook and Slee and Phineas and Ferb, we manage to fit in a few family portraits in amongst that too!
Dinner is in the Animators Palette tonight. This is different to the one on the other boat, it doesn't do the transforming walls thing. Instead there is very clever lighting making a the room transform throughout the night. Up on the wall are huge sketch drawings from the animators of Nemo. Suddenly all the paintings come to life and up pop some Nemo characters they talk to the audience and swim between the screens playing all over the restaurant, awesome. A little while later the turtle pops up and asks where people are from, I figure its just canned, but once he starts taking about the answers he heard we realize it's a live show. The animated characters we're watching are completely interacting with people around the dining room. Brilliant stuff. The kids have no idea how magic it is, I'm blown away :)
Early to bed tonight, tomorrow we're visiting some Mayan temples.
