Brenton Kovacs's Travels
16th
The bus ride to Chengdu seems to take forever. We arrive in Chengdu and we are mob as we get off the bus. So many people want their photo with us. Alan makes the comment he could get used to the celebrity type status. But then he says he could see it getting annoying after a while.
After unpacking we go for a walk to see what we can find. Its about 34 degrees C and quite humid. We stumble across a huge pedestrian shopping mall. So many shops and so many people. We seek refuge in some of the larger air-conditioned malls.

Nothing much planned today. We take a walk to see Tianfu Square with the staue of Mao. then its onto the Peoples square which is a lush green park. Lots of people doing their dancing etc. We walk back through the pedestrian shopping mall which would have to be 2 kilometres long. So many of the same shops. Lots of people here but nobody is buying anything including myself.
What we see in the shops is dearer than at home. From electrical to clothes etc it is more expensive. What i do like is the huge variety of stuff in the supermarkets. Far more than what we get at home, and the food stuff is so cheap.
Tomorrow we fly to Shanghai, a 3 hour flight from Chengdu
