Shanghai, China Nov 6, 2003 Took our flight to Bangkok today, nice flight, boiling hot in Bangkok 89degrees at 10.30pm! Had a nightmare finding a hotel and had to stay in a bit of a dive!! Still tomorrow will be better!
Shanghai, China Nov 5, 2003 Today we went to French town for something to eat before we walked around the Large superstores Jay ordered rabbit in chilli sauce and nearly blew his head off! We met up with Marta who is Studying in Shanghai and she became our Shanghai guide taking us to a nightmarket where we bargained for a pound each for some Calvin Klein Boxers! - She assured us they were genuine!! In the evening we went to the face bar and played pool and then headed for a nightclub!
Shanghai, China Nov 4, 2003 After our nice 14 hour train journey we arrived in Shanghai. Our first stop was the Bund - A famous street along the Huang Pu River where a lot of trading took place. We walked along the Bund to Yuyuan gardens and Bazaar and experienced many street markets and a lot of bad Chinese singing! Beijing, China Nov 2, 2003 We visited the Summer Palace today late in the afternoon. The summer palace was used by emperors in the summer time to escape the heat of the forbidden city. The palace contains a huge solid marble boat. Arranged our hotels and train journey to Shanghai for tomorrow night, then headed out on the town!
Beijing, China Nov 1, 2003 Today we took a tour bus to the Great wall and the Ming Tombs. It was a bit of a cloudy day so the views weren't as good as hoped for but it was still breath taking! The Ming Tombs were built to house the emporers bodies of the ming dynasty. On the way to the wall we visited A jade factory, one of China's famous treasures. We also saw how modern vases were made.
