Apologies for the delay on this one, we have been well and truly caught up in the south!
So, finally we have made it to Baga aka...Baga-luf! This is defo the Indian version of Brits abroad, I feel like this would make a good tv program. Determined not to be fleeced ever again we head for the beach with our backpacks in tow and being in baga-luf Brad gets into the mood with a full English and a kingfisher beer (Brit-india abroad style) The beach is great and there are no taxes unlike the rest of India! We find a room and it is ok, but no A/C, which turns out to be a safe haven for cockroaches. Sinead has spent a lot of the first day doing a weird dance on the bed every time she sees something in the room move.
After finding our luxury pad, its beach time baby!!!!
As we had another sleepless night on a coach, we are so ready for beach time. There's such a strong wind it doesn't feel hot at all, and as soon as our little heads hit the loungers we are well and truly gone. Three hours later we wake up delirious and burnt to a crisp!
Delightful!!
Afternoon nap and a cold shower done and we are ready to party. We start our bar crawl at the top of the strip and work our way down to the beach. The measures here are like your naughty holiday resorts on a Greek island. Brad is wasted after two cocktails and the next bar is fully equipped with big screens and......the UFC!!!! I might as well be on holiday alone, haha!
While Brad is consumed in sport and gin, a 'politician' from Bangalore and his 'friend' start talking to me. She is also from Bangalore but she is far too young, western, attractive and stoned to just be his friend! He also adds it's his birthday and his wife and children are at home (whilst stroking her leg). Apparently In India if it's your birthday you also buy everyone else's drinks, so once he found out what we were drinking we never seemed to see the bottom of ours! Successful night for the bank! We called it a night once our politician mate lost interest in his 'friend' and kept trying to hold my hand :-/. I didn't have to worry too much about dragging Brad away though, he was walking one way but his legs had other ideas at this point. Bed time.
Day two in Baga....hanging deep! All we could manage was shade and breakfast, managed to string a couple of sentences together to one another- pass the ketchup, what's the wifi code, erggghh, it's hot, and so on. Today wasn't looking very promising.....however, our good friends who were also in goa came to the rescue! They were staying in a 5* hotel 2km away. They had a pool and that was exactly what our hangovers were craving. It didn't take us long to pick up our s*** and get out the shade. Brad being the tight *********** he insisted on walking....twenty minutes later we are in the middle of no where, no shade not a soul to be seen. I couldn't even speak I was so hot (no wind today) everyone wanted to mis-guide us too. After an hour of waltzing around in circles we find it, this place is amazing- I'm so jealous, Brad keeps reassuring me that he will still let me have a night of luxury somewhere else (however I'm not hopeful).
Beck and Ali are in the pool, she is already so bronzed looking like a little oompa-lumpa. She greets me like Patrick Swayze in dirty dancing. Making her little squeeling pig noises (sorry beck) I was sooooooo happy to see her! We exchanged stories and tales for a couple of hours poolside, noshed a pizza and even arranged our next crash pad in Anjuna together. They booked a little beauty for £12 a night so we were well on board.....!
