Nearly caught up after too much time being beach bums in the south....! I figured We had to write a blog on Anjuna because we loved it here so much.
We arrived in Anjuna nice and early, we are so glad we booked this £12 a night mini hotel it is so beaut! Brad's highlight is that our room has a bathroom shelf, I'm just loving the AC, set it straight to 16 degs :):):)
We got sorted, got brekkie and straight back to pick up our scooter! This is the first time I have ever been on a scooter. I should prob let Brad write this blog because I spent the whole day in 40 degree heat practically glued to Brad clutching on to him for dear life. Poor lad was ringing wet Let's just say my dream of being a biker babe was shattered after 5 minutes on the back of this hairdryer. I'm not cut out for two wheels, I was sweating profusely, shaking and shouting at Brad A LOT!
Admittedly....as much as I hated the bike, this was one of our best days ever. We decided to beach hop as far north as we could. We started at Anjuna beach which was on our doorstep, strolled along the golden sands for twenty minutes and took it all in. It was beautiful, it had big black craggy rocks that stretched quite far out into the sea with huge waves crashing up against them, creating this spectacular show- selfie stick moment for sure!! Bradders was on one today, no time to chill, sunbathe or even breathe. On to the next one...
...Vagator, wow, beautiful! This beach is made up of Vagator beach and little Vagator. We started at little Vagator, it was so pretty lots of rocks leading out into the sea and little coves to hide away in. It was so peaceful and not littered with tourists like Calangute/Baga beach. We walked along the shore towards the main beach but from a distance realised that it was littered with watersports and tourists. Not our idea of fun, saw it from a distance but avoided it like the plague. Figured a couple of selfies by the rocks would suffice and jumped back on the death-mobile :-|
Mandrem is up next on our hitlist. Parked up just off the main road, on a little dust path. A small hike (a couple of steps up and down again) we are welcomed by the longest stretch of white sands I've seen since the whitsundays. Completely untouched, no beach shacks, no hotels, just unrefined natural beauty. In the distance we could hear a few old school hippies playing the diggerydoo (not sure how to spell it, I'm sure you know what I mean) a couple learning to kite-surf and that was it, it was beautiful, remote and more than anything peaceful. We played around in the sands for a little while and watched the kite surfers learning in maybe the toughest conditions?! Time to leave heaven on earth and move on....
Aranabol- a couple of kilometres of well built winding (or stomach churning) roads North of Mandrem. These roads are a bikers heaven and my version of hell. This was still connected to Mandrem, so as I mentioned above, we were still overwhelmed by the White sands and crystal clear sea. The only difference, this was the Russian haven we had been warned about in the north. We thought we had managed to miss it all arriving a week after high season. But the last few tourists were clinging on to Aranabol. The fact that tourists were few and far between here, made a refreshing change to see people other than each other. (Not that that's been difficult ;)) Aranabol has a scaled down amount of shacks from Anjuna and Baga which makes it a bit of a gem. Enough laid back reggae and lounge tunes in the shacks gives it this Caribbean
