Wakeboarding, missed flights and car chases!
2010 so far has been ace! It started with wakeboarding! Which is about the coolest way to spend an afternoon imaginable! Its almost as much fun as snowboarding and you can do it in the sunshine and it doesn't hurt when you fall - although you do get a mouth full of pond water! The wakeboard centre at Naga (CWC, camsur wakebaord centre) is one of the best in the world (apparently) and its got jumps and stuff! Very cool! There are some videos of me getting the jumps very wrong that are proving nearly impossible to upload! watch this space!
After Naga, we missed our flight to Borneo, whcih turned out to be a really good thing! The girls headed to Borneo the next day and I stayed in Manila to meet Tim before his flight! Had a really good night with Tim Friday before he left and then went out Saturday to a club with some friends I'd met previously! Only thing was, I realised i hadn't brought ID. Not a problem, taxi's are dirt cheap. However, on the way back from the hotel we got stuck in traffic! The driver clearly has somewhere to be because he started to chase an ambulance that was passing. He was running red lights and speeding to keep up which duely attracted the attendtions of the local police.
However, instead of stopping he decided to make a break for freedom with me stuck in the passenger seat! Not cool! All I could do was put the passenger seat back a bit so that when he hit something I wasn't so close to the dashboard! Imagine an Asian Thelma and a cowering westerner Louise!
Fortunately though the police caught up with him and blocked us off - without smashing me and the car up in the process! The police where soooo angry with the driver! I was left stranded at the side fo the road but fortunately managed to jump in another taxi and headed to the club for a stiff drink! As it turned out the club was also playing great music which is very unusual for the philipines!Or maybe it just sounded better as I was just happy to be alive! : )
I'm in the airport waiting to fly to Borneo now which I hope will be a little calmer! Love to everyone!
