Thursday 9th August - The big day! David's parents and Melinda, Laura and Dave flew in to Ayers Rock to meet us and stay for a few days. Sat 4th August - We left Alice Springs in the morning and headed down the highway to the turn off at Erlunda. Again, not too much see along the way. Once we turned off the Stuart Highway we stayed at a free camp 100 km along the road. These camps are amazing. We always seem to get there early and pick the best spot and then as the afternoon progresses, more and more vans, cars and campers pull in. It feels like the nights are finally starting to warm up. Monday 30th July and Tuesday 31st July, 2012 - Once we left Ti Tree - and to be honest even when we were at Ti Tree - there was nothing to see until Alice Springs. We did, however, stop at a little Aboriginal Community along the way called Aileron (see the photos with the huge Aboriginal statues) and bought a painting. Thu 26th July 2012 - After quite a noisy night (the free camp was pretty close to the highway) we headed for Camooweal. A very small town located pretty close to the Qld/NT border. We free camped again by the lake - well it was called Lake Francis but I think in the wet it becomes a river and is then called Georgina River. Both names were on the sign at the bridge.
