Well we finally made it to Goa, which was deffo the best decision so far! It has everything - Sun, Sea, Sand & Scarfs! Yep, we have been greeted by the Forlorn Fawn himself & Marie Claire, so fun times ahoy! The beer is only 40p here too so you can imagine the decorating that occured on our arrival last night!
I'm so glad we decided to stay as we got to go to the ancient Hindu City of Hampi, which broke up the 24 hour journey to Goa from Chennai! We did some hardcore train action too, which was actually loads of fun! The day train from Chennai to Bangalore is like a market on wheels! There were so many wierd & wonderful people wandering through the carriages it was like a show - blind sellers offering toys, the much needed fan lady (we couldnt afford the AC carriage), nu rave beggars! She Men (who were amazing!), Farmers selling potatoes & various other root vegetables, a family of accordian players & singers, all this amongst the various IRTC staff offering a variety of fried food (freshly cooked on board) and Chai Wallahs! It was brilliant & the 9 hour journey flew by! If only the London underground was this well stocked!
We then had another 12 hour overnight train to Hampi where we chilled for a few days amongst the 500 year old ruins before catching yet another 10 hour train to Goa, which cut through the most amazing scenery including a giant Waterfall, which the train literally goes right through! We have done some extensive train travel in the last couple of days so now we are having a much deserved rest on the beach!
