Time flies so fast when you're lying on a beach all day, can you believe it's our last day in Goa already! The last week has flown by in a blur of Silent Discos, Scarfs, Sunset Scrabble, Dolphins, Mojitos, Mosquitos & Famous Five Adventures! We've had so much fun here, it was deffo the best decision to come back!
The Scarfs left us last night, which was terribly sad. The Famous Five were only together for a short time, but had some marvellous adventures along the way & still have the mosquito bites to prove it! Our first adventure was to explore the mysterious monkey island just off the coast of Palolem beach. The four of us (me, vish & the scarfs) set off one hot sunny morning, we were just talking about how we needed a dog to complete the Five, when Timmy appeared out of nowhere! Ever the faithful companion, Timmy stayed with us the entire day & accompanied us onto the Island, which can only be reached at low tide by wadi8ng through the sea. We soon discovered to our peril that there were no monkeys on the Island atall. In fact, the only thing that inhabited the Island were millions of mosquitos, so we officially changed its name to Mozzie Island - enter at your own risk. I am now convinced that I have contracted Malaria.
The following day it was time for another adventure; a boat trip to Cola Beach - the beautiful beach that we stayed at the very first time we came to Goa. It callled for a very early start, so we all set off at 7am. As soon as we reached the boat, Timmy turned up again, ready for adventure. Sadly the captain would not allow dogs on board, despite my protests that she comes with us on all our adventures! So we were forced to leave Timmy at Palolem & set sail without her. The boat trip was much more eventful than the one we took 2 years ago with Baz & Paul (sorry guys) we saw loads of dolphins who put on an amazing show for us, flipping & somersaulting out of the water! I think they were showing off for the scarfs!
Jackson arrived on Friday, which guaranteed the start of the carnage! Goa has had a strange effect on him though, he's like a changed man! The first night was marked by too many mojitos & a chance encounter with the Crazy Hans. Hans is an ageing cainer, he's around 40, with long hair & has been stuck in Goa for years. He's originally from Newcastle & is on first name turns with Gazza, I wouldnt be surprised if he'd killed a man. He is a character & a half, completely nuts & has convinced himself he is actuially Indian! Very funny guy. Thankfully, there were no Ibiza-style accidents this time, although there was a Tsunami, which claimed Jackson & almost claimed me & Vish! I am proud to say that I witnessed one of the only occasions where Jackson has had to be put to bed - he claims it was all down to jetlag but we know otherwise!!
Oh & we have also met another celebrity character whilst here in Goa - the Posh Gap Year Blogger from the Guardian, that got torn to shreds by the people of Britain! Yes, we met 19 year old Max, son of the Guardian travel editor, writer for Skins & generally posh twat. He is just as annoying in real life as in his blog, especially now he has swapped the skinny jeans for fishermans trousers. He told us he was here on a 'spiritual journey' which basically involved him doing his best to woo a really nice girl we met, by talking a load of crap about his creative juices (although I dont think it was these juices that he wanted to flow!) & trying to convince everyone that the Moon is bigger than the Earth! I'm really not surprised he is the laughing stock of Britain! Poor, Poor Max.
Tomorrow we are heading down the coast to Gokarna for some back to basics beach action. For the last week we've been staying in the most amazing bamboo cottage (with solid walls & tiled floors!) in Patnem, but from tomorrow it looks like its back to bucket showers & primitive toilets! The beaches there are meant to be amazing though, so thats the price we have to pay - just dont mention this to Vish!
