Fantastic day at the highly anticipated Braemar Gathering.... like nowhere we had ever been before..... a stunning setting for a fantastic community event attended by visitors from all over the world including the Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Princess Anne. Loved the highland dancing, the bands, the track events, the heavies - and the sack race!

Such a beautiful setting on the River Dee surrounded by mountains - so sad to see the destruction caused through the town by last years floods, slowly being rebuilt.

Headed first to the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre to see and feed the only reindeer herd in the UK - particularly loved watching M&D in the middle of a line of reindeer on the boardwalk! Beautiful, gentle animals - although their antlers do look very fearsome. We then headed for the funicular and a guided walk at the top of Cairn Gorm - amazing view from the top, fab guide and even with the 47mph winds was enjoyed by all.

Time to catch up on washing, shopping, sorting and playing - a well needed day to not do very much.

Another surprisingly peaceful long journey and we stopped at the Highland Folk Musem mainly because it was free and we could stretch our legs - we ended up staying for 5 hours - a really interesting a engaging open-air museum. On to Grantown-on-Spey and the campsite just in time for the chip van!
